"Who is Stephen Miller and why does he want to set the city where he was raised on fire?" has become one of the most critical questions in US history.

ABC reporter Terry Moran lost his job for trying to explain Miller to the nation in an early Sunday morning post on X:

Unfortunately, for Moran, the Chief of the GOP Thought Police, JD Vance, targeted his post, prompting an almost immediate suspension by ABC.

We deserve to know who rules us

We face, for the first time in our history, the reality of a fascist regime trying to create excuses and opportunities to roll out full fascism in the United States.

As patriots who believe in the America remade by the Civil War and Civil Rights movements, we must examine Stephen, the man who engineered this systematic effort to reverse everything that made America good.

It's our job to understand the guy who pressed send on the most disgraceful attack on the Constitution since January 6, 2021—the ordering of troops to American soil over the objection of a state governor for the sole purpose of creating unrest.

Just hours after that order, Terry Moran was offering crucial context on the man behind the plot to send American troops into our cities.

And anyone who doubts the relevance of Moran's points needs to know that it’s Miller’s white nationalist vision that underlies Trump’s memorandum—a disgraceful document ordering the invasion of the United States at the president's discretion. It's an order that's so wide in scope that it reads like it has been prepared to deal with a nationwide civil conflict, a conflict it also aims to create.

For his entire life, Miller has been looking for a pretense that will allow a Republican Regime to subject the majority of America to the rule of a conquered foe and carry out an ethnic cleansing of our nation. And here we are.

Who?

Much, if not most of America, has no idea who Stephen Miller—effectively the shadow president of the United States—is or what he wants.

According to YouGov, he’s the 53rd most popular Republican in America, just behind Alan Keyes, whom I had to Google to verify if he’s still alive. He appears to be, as far as I got.

According to a November Harris/Harvard poll, he was the 13th most popular member of the Trump Regime, below Vivek Ramaswamy, Matt Gaetz, and Elise Stefanik, who never really made it into the regime. His approval matched his disapproval at 28%, and 44% of Americans had never heard of him.

That’s a pretty good snapshot of America’s information landscape, by the way.

The GOP base loves Miller because he’s Trump’s guy, a Fox News and right-wing media staple. He’s despised by the Democratic base of hyper-informed newshounds like you because they know who he is and what he wants to turn America into.

Oh, him

Unbridled racism. A total contempt for equality. An ability to whine with a growl.

You could see what made Stephen a top draft pick for Trump. And Miller quickly rose the ranks from the comms department of Senator Jeff Sessions—even as Trump dumped his old boss—to become one of the two devils on Donald’s shoulder.

And you know that in the last Trump Regime his neo-Nazi sympathies were outed by the Southern Poverty Law Center for all who care:

In the run-up to the 2016 election, White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller promoted white nationalist literature, pushed racist immigration stories and obsessed over the loss of Confederate symbols after Dylann Roof’s murderous rampage, according to leaked emails reviewed by Hatewatch.

This surprised no one aware that Miller was behind the child separation at the border that led to thousands of children being ripped from their families, many of whom have still not been reunited. The border is where Miller, then working for Vice President Mike Pence, bonded with his now-wife, whose sensibilities so closely mirror his own that they defy the cliché “there’s a lid for every pot.”

“My family and colleagues told me that when I have kids I’ll think about family separation differently,” Katie Miller (then going by her maiden name, Waldman) is quoted in Jacob Soboroff’s book Separated. “But I don’t think so.”

Miller went on to repeat her husband’s feat of tossing an old boss to Trump’s wood-chipper, even after Pence kept her on to made sure the Millers had insurance through her pregnancy, by savaging the former VP for having the audacity to question Bobby Jr.’s nomination to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

The architect of American fascism

Stephen Miller, both directly and through his group, America First Legal, laid the foundation that enabled Donald Trump to regain the presidency.

He played a key role in coaching Elon Musk into turning Twitter into a machine for fascism that conveniently became a Trump campaign website while waging a war against any moderation of right-wing or foreign disinformation through the Twitter Files. Musk was so impressed that he became a secret angel investor in Trump’s 2024 campaign, pouring in millions early on, in addition to the $45 billion he had already summoned to buy Twitter and rig it for the right.

Desmog reports:

It wasn’t until October 2024, just a month before the election, that the Wall Street Journal revealed Musk’s connection. He’d secretly funneled at least $43 million to Citizens for Sanity through a nonprofit called Building America’s Future. Musk’s involvement was intentionally made obscure, according to the Journal, and nonprofit employees involved in the transfer often reportedly coordinated using the encrypted messaging app Signal.

The same players played a key role in the development and creation of what is now known as Project 2025.

And when Musk entered the regime, Katie Miller became his chief government sherpa, with Stephen playing a mystery role in this power throuple. But the Millers’ connection to Musk was often offered as reassurance to Republicans who feared Musk was disassembling in mid-air.

A distraction and a reveal

It’s essential to understand that Stephen Miller wants riots. And he wants ICE to start them. And the goal is to achieve his version of Helter Skelter —a war that divides this country by skin color, and pretty much nothing else.

That’s what Terry Moran was trying to tell America.

And all the evidence supports Moran. Just as it did when Moran had the audacity to question Trump directly for telling a ridiculous lie, presenting Photoshopped tattoos on Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s hands as an excuse not to follow a 9-0 Supreme Court ruling:

We know that Moran is telling the truth because at the end of May, the GOP outlet Washington Examiner told us:

ICE’s top 50 field officials were given roughly a week’s notice of an emergency meeting in Washington.

“Miller came in there and eviscerated everyone. ‘You guys aren’t doing a good job. You’re horrible leaders.’ He just ripped into everybody. He had nothing positive to say about anybody, shot morale down,” said the first official, who spoke with those in the room that day.

“Stephen Miller wants everybody arrested. ‘Why aren’t you at Home Depot? Why aren’t you at 7-Eleven?'” the official recited.

One of the ERO officials in attendance stood up and stated that the Department of Homeland Security and the White House had publicly messaged about targeting criminal illegal immigrants, and therefore, ICE was targeting them, and not the general illegal immigration population.

“Miller said, ‘What do you mean you’re going after criminals?’ Miller got into a little bit of a pissing contest. ‘That’s what Tom Homan says every time he’s on TV: ‘We’re going after criminals,'” the ICE official told Miller, according to the first official.

The shift toward ever more Gestapo-like tactics that propelled ICE and the Trump regime into the direct conflict we’re seeing on the streets of LA.

This escalation began immediately after Miller forced ICE to go after immigrants with no legal trouble, thus tacitly admitting that there were so few undocumented criminals in this country that the Trump regime was forced to round up anyone they could find, just over 100 days after taking power.

Of course, all these lies were how we've gotten so close to the ethnic cleansing Miller has been dreaming up his whole life. You knew they were lies. Anyone who cared to check knew.

But, notably, even ICE believed Miller’s lies up until a few weeks ago.

This bill is everything

When the unlikely partnership between Elon Musk and Donald Trump combusted, the Regime found itself in a bind. Musk was attacking the bill from the right. While the Vichy Republicans in swing districts could also be counted on to cave, the party’s conservatives suddenly saw their vote for Trump’s bill as an opening for a primary challenger, possibly backed by Musk.

The bill, the definitive bill of this presidency and the key that unlocks all the fascism Trump and Miller have planned, could die.

That created a new urgency for an escalation when it came to immigration, the issue that has given Trump his in to seize control of the Republican party first and then the country, as Marcy Wheeler explains:

The through-line here is crystal clear.

Ratchet up raids on peaceful people to hit impossible quotas (ICE came close, but did not meet, Miller’s 3,000 arrest quota on two days last week).

Use protests against that draconian invasion to arrest Democratic leaders and invade a blue city.

Point to the chaos created by Miller’s draconian ICE raids to demand passage of the Big Ugly bill, which will codify and expand precisely that kind of draconian ICE raid.

Create chaos, and then use that chaos to try to codify authoritarian power.

I’ll keep telling you that the new money and power in the reconciliation bill that will allow this regime to build a disappearing machine is inconceivable to most white Americans. It promises a level of surveillance and control completely incompatible with any semblance of freedom.

And it’s bound to be used in all sorts of incomprehensible evils because the lies Miller has been feeding through Trump are not just untrue, they are the opposite of true.

Immigrants make us safer. They make us richer. They are the victims of a purposely broken and perverse system designed to leave them in purgatory as a political punching bag.

Why? Because they’re so valuable for people like Stephen Miller as a punching bag, they have now brought us to the brink of fascism.

All for what?

Terry Moran might say:

The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism.

Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy.

But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller.

It’s not brains. It’s bile.

Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater.

You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.

Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end his his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.

In this moment of cowardice, Moran broke the biggest rule. He spoke the truth about power. JD and the Thought Police will make sure his life is never the same.
